On January 24, 2021, the 43rd edition of the 'Hel van het Noorden' will take place on the Eemskanaal in Groningen. The 'Hell of the North' can be seen from the eastern bank of the Eemskanaal. Groninger Student Rowing Association 'Aegir' has been organizing this chase race since 1975. The Hell of the North owes its name to the harsh November weather conditions in which the race is often sailed.
