Get on your bike and discover enchanting Arnhem. The city breathes history through its authentic buildings and the Battle of Arnhem. But that is not everything! Arnhem also has beautiful nature reserves that you can explore. We have selected the 5 most beautiful cycling routes so that you can discover Arnhem at its best!

Veluwezoom (42.4 km)

The Veluwezoom is located between the wooded, hilly landscapes of the Veluwe and the floodplains of the Rhine and IJssel. You cycle past various nature reserves such as Planken Wambuis and De Hoge Veluwe National Park. If you want to visit these parks, deviate from the cycle route. Biljoen Castle, Velperwaarden and Sonsbeek Park (29.8 km)

During the cycle route you will pass Biljoen Castle. This castle was built around 1530 by the Duke of Gelre and is a beautiful building to see. After this, the route continues towards the Velperwaarden; a nature reserve that is rich in special meadow birds. After spotting beautiful birds, you cycle into the famous Park Sonsbeek. The park largely consists of an ancient beech forest. A little further on is the Witte Watermolen. The cycle route takes 1   hour and 45 minutes and can be found here.

Tour of Arnhem via Oosterbeek and Huissen (53.4 km)

The cycle route starts towards Oosterbeek. Oosterbeek is a chic village known for the Battle of Arnhem. Here Allied troops played an important role during the airborne landing and battle as part of Operation Market Garden in 1944. You cross the Lower Rhine to Driel and then cycle towards the east side of Arnhem. You cycle the last ten kilometers through beautiful green surroundings back to the starting point. Castles and history of Arnhem (40.6 km)

If you are interested in castles, the Veluwezoom is definitely recommended. In addition to the castles, the Veluwezoom, which is also known as 'Gelderland Arcadia', has beautiful estates and country estates. The area has a rich history and traces of different eras can be found in the landscape. Here you will find the cycling route that takes 2.5 hours.

Discover Arnhem and surroundings (46.8 km)

From Buitenplaats Beekhuizen you cycle through beautiful Velp and Arnhem. You will see beautiful buildings such as the centuries-old St. Walburgis Church. You cycle past Standdsblok-Meinerswijk, a beautiful floodplain area on the other side of the Rhine. On the dike you can enjoy the view over the wooded hills. After crossing the river you cycle along the edge of the forests in Oosterbeek and through meadows near Renkum. Via Wolfheze you come to a leafy path to Oosterbeek. You then cycle along the edge of Park Sonsbeek and eventually arrive in Veluwezoom National Park. This route takes 2 hours and 45 minutes and can be found here.
